Traditions

Hey, when I started to write this article was 12:41 am of Sunday, but I was very busy and so I'm writting now the other part of the article. Well I'm going to talk about traditions. This because last Sunday I went to my uncle's house to celebrate my cousin's birthday, and I thought that in Italy there are a lot of traditions, I'm going to describe them. The best tradition is: we have the habit of eating together, infact we eat every day together, we don't eat fast food, but for  lunch and for dinner we all seat at the kitchen table and we eat together , talking and laughing, and having fun, this for some people is a good thing, but for other is not a good thing, for me for example is not very good, because I have a lot of homework and spend a lot of time for eating is not for me the best idea to spend my “ free” time. Many families oblige their kids stay like 1 hour at the table, I have never liked that. The next tradition is: stay for lunch at granmother house, usually granparents invite their “ children” to eat with them and their family, so all the family is together at least for a day. Mum and grandmother prepare all tipical dishes of the family and sometimes children play together, I don't have cousins that have my age, so have never played with them.
All the family and friends of the family  are reunited for Christmas, for this party all families prepare their dishes and take them to the landlord.
For Christmas usually people exchanges a kiss to their partner under a sprig of mistletoe.
I don't know if in other places ther is the wedding list, here  this is  disappearing, but many people still do this, the wedding list is a list of the most important things that a couple wish for their future house, so the guestes don't give them useless things.
Here in Italy teenagers become adults when they are 18, so this is like in America for 16, these teenagers/adults do a very big party with their family and their friends, and after they can have their car.
Talking about wedding, in the South of Italy people do a very long marriage, like 3 or 4 days of party, and all the guestes must stay with the newlyweds. Sometimes friends cover the floor of the new newlyweds' house with glasses with water, so when they want go into their house, they must remove all the glasses.

Health

Hey world :) I'm sorry, I didn't write articles because I was very busy, here at school we are doing the period of recovery for the students that have bad grades in any subject, so students that are good at school must explain to these students all the topics of the year, so we must study a lot, like 300 page by subject, and all days we must " teach" to this guys :D Well I want to write about health in Italy making a comparison with America because one day you know I'd like to live in America so I must know the rules of health :)
In Italy if you are sick you must go to your family doctor, that you choose near your town and you go there for prescription and for  visits of little importance, you go there if you have a cough or influenza or other little problems, or you go there if you want do a special visit by other doctors. This visit are free, you don't pay this doctors but they have a salary of about 4.000 euros. If you go by other doctor, visits aren't cheap! Is the opposite are too expensive and usually when you go by this doctors, you don't have the answers that you would like to have. Usually this doctors are surface and always they seem angry! I don't know why but for this I'm afraid from them! Some times ago at tv people talked about a doctor that in an operation has left a gauze in the belly of the sick! They are crazy! A lot of doctors pay their teacher to switch some exams or they know the right people to overtake the students that are better then them, so when you go to do a visit you can find a bad doctor. But not all doctors are so bad, sometimes if you are lucky you can find a real doctor. When you go to do a special visits by these private doctors, as a minimum you pay 100 euros and often this doctors  visit you for 5 minutes. But differently from USA if you go to the hospital you don't pay nothing, but when you go out from the ospital all the visits that you do you must pay a ticket for them. Like if you broke your elbow and doctors put it on a plaster when you must remove it you pay 50 euros. So isn't true that in Italy health is free! And drugs are expensive! While when I travelled with my parents in Danmark and Norway I had otitis and I was very sick, so we went by a doctor and we tought that we would pay a lot of money but at the end of the visit and with the drugs we paid around 20 euros, If I remember right in their money are 27 or 30! This doctor was very nice and good and patient, because he explained to them all in english and he repeated all what we didn't understand.
In America if you broke your elbow you pay around 500$ if you have insurance, without this you pay 7.000$
Well I don't know if in America doctors are good or not, but I hope so!

American schools

American Schools

The schools here in America are very interesting. I am in high school, and I feel like many people cannot be who they are without being judged for it. But they're not all bad. :) There are many kind and wonderful students. We have a variety of classes that are offered, and sports are a huge deal at my school. If you are good at playing sports, you are popular. Many people play volleyball, basketball, football, soccer, golf, swim, or run track. I attend school from 8:00-3:20 on Mondays- Thursdays. On Fridays, we have a shortened day and we are released at 12:30. There are four classes a day. We have some mandatory classes, like Language Arts, Math, Science, and History. French, Spanish, and German are also offered as optional classes.There are different obligatory classes for each grade level. I received all of my credits for my freshman year already, and right now I am taking all of my fun classes. Yay! :) I enjoy school. Sometimes it can be boring, but it's normal for everyone to feel that way. My two favorite classes are Creative Writing and Art. :) A typical class has about 20 students in it. My smallest class has 9 students in it and my largest class 25 students. I am the youngest student in many of them.

China

China has almost 1.4 billion people,so we do have many student.There are 2000 students in my grade,and I have to compete with 25000 students for collage--we are in the same province,and same grade.

And China is almost the first country to select officers by tests and exams.In ancient times,some people even chose to be a student for his all life(OK Thats because they didnt pass exams.).Though not all people have to go to school and only some of students can pass the exams,all Chinese at that time think the best things in the world are marrige and passing the exams.

So lets go into our topic--education in China.

Unlike students in other countries,high school students in China has poor free time.For example,me,a high school who is struggling for collage etrance exam,go to school everyday even Sunday,and stay at school 12 hours from Monday to Friday.On your high school,school thinks you just have to prepare for exams so it stops classes which cant be tested in collage entrance exam,like music,art and so on.So what you can do is sitting on your chair,and,keep writing and studying.The key to be a top student is----never stop.I know many student who can keep writing and studying for more than 5 hours.Yes,they dont stop.

Its good for us to remember things,but we cant be creative when we grow up.I guess thats why China dont have really great collages in the world.

I think the most important skill for a person is creativing.And when all people are creative,I believe the country will be better.I dont really like The Party,but I love my country.

I dont know much about collage because I havent enter one.Maybe I will write about it in the future.

Italian food

Hey :D I'm sorry that I yesterday I didn't write some articles but I was busy :) since that I have written only about bad things of Italy, I'm going to write about the best thing of italy, food! All know that italian food is very good and there are a lot of types of dishes. Pasta, Pizza are know everywhere, but there are other foods that are good like Pasta and Pizza, I love Pizzoccheri, they are a hot dish with pasta of cereals, vegetables, potatoes and a lot of cheese, Pizzccheri are cook in the oven and they are very very very good :) are typical of Veneto and Trentino alto Adige :)

Other food that I like is Ossi Buchi :) They are  veal shank that is cooked with his bones and you eat the meat and the pulp inside the bones, is so delicious but not all people love this kind of meat

Oh! I forget ! Polenta! This is a type of flour that  you cook in a pot very slowly and at the end it is like a purèe but more substantial, usually it is eat with Gorgonzola ( a tipical italian cheese that is soft ) or Brasasto ( are pieces of meat with souce ) or you can eat only it :) 

In Italy is a tradition eat together, we aren't used to eat fast food or eat watching tv because we think that is a moment where a family must stay together and talk about problems or only have fun together, eating good food. :)

Pretty scary right? But if you get a rapidly developing country with double the population of Europe, and more cars than people in Spain, and put them on vastly underdeveloped roads, there is bound to be a lot of trouble. This is further worsened, by the indifferent car driving schools, which are willing to give licenses for a small bribe. In fact, I have plenty of friends that drive without ever even visiting a school. This is mostly because the fines and stuff are just not scary enough to make anyone think twice. All this adds up to India being probably one of the most unsafe countries to drive your car in.

Let me give you some stats:

• India accounts for around 10% of worldwide road accident fatalities WORLDWIDE
• Around 1,275,000 people are fatally injured every year on the roads.
• 14 people per hour die on the roads everyday

These are pretty horrifying stats and to realize that this can easily be prevented by simply raising awareness and making laws more strict all these lives could be saved. This is pretty serious stuff and with the explosion in car sales its more important than ever to be more aware.

We can't be ourselves

Well, today I want write about a bad custom that italians have. When you are walking on a street you can't be yourself, because if you are wearing strange clothes or you are too tall or fat, people observes and judges you.  Everyone is judged by people but they don't critic themselves! We think that we are perfect.. So in the free time we observe other people and we compare ourself with some other. I live in a little city and here everyone knows everyone, so you can't go out with a new friend that your grandfather is already  watching you out of the windows. When I go in a big city or abroad I can see that people wear what they want and people are not scared about that. I don't like this attitude that we have. Because I know that is annoying this, you can't do what you want because you are scared by  people's judgments. This is very frequent between old and young people or between teenagers. I'm a teenager and I know that expecially girls observe clothes and hair of other girls to be the best dressed. But is not right, because this can make sad someone. Few days ago a girls killed herself because her friends have fun of her and she was so sad that she died. People must think about themselves not about other people's life.

Italy, ooh Italy...

Hello world :) Here are 6:42 pm :) and I'm hungry :) I was watching tv and I saw a program that says " Opinionists are the new stars of tv", Italy! Why are you so.. so... stupid? Wow here people think only tv, fight on tv and tv! If you are in this magic box you will  be fantastic and popular and you can have the world in your hands. But why? Because a lot of people are so full of themselves that they become different in front of a camera to be famous. Here politics don't discuss about problems but they struggle on tv to do caos. But is so funny see people in tv that argue and fight in tv programs? When I see this I can only think " Why? Why we are in the hands of this men? And Why are influenced by multimedia? " And the other thing is: why tv makes women so stupid? I'm a girl but I'm not stupid, maybe I think :D but women  in tv have the fame of stupid gender that show only their body and not their brain, with  some exceptions. Maybe women think that pretending to be stupid they can be more famous? I don't think, we must show themselves for special discoveries or good deeds. I hope that one day  women will talk about science and not about sex and tatoos.

Hello! My name is Kenna, and I live in the state of Wyoming in America. I really love to learn about different cultures around the world, and writing for this blog is an incredible opportunity! America is quite a lovely country. We have many freedoms and rights. I know many people from different countries would like to live here. What about Italy?

Well hello world :) Here are 9.10 am :) And is snowing !! I'm in the bad and I'm looking out of windows and I can see snow thata fall down :D Is so nice, I love snow. But the way I'm here to talk about the 18 years :) In italy is an important year for teenagers that become adults. But 18 years mark a change so strong? Mhhh, is not true that when you are 18-year-old you are adult. Here you can be 18 or 15 or 23 and is the same thing. All teenagers wait for this moment but the only thing that change is that you can drive your car that in America you can drive when you are 16-year-old. But here nobody trats you differently because you are in age of majority. The dream of " when I'm eighteen I can do everything I want" is destroyed. You can't do what you want, because parents treats you like a child and in the world noboty accepts for a job, so you are " obbligate" to go to university or stay at home on your sofa and watch films. I don't think that is a good idea, infact when I'm eighteen and I finish the hight school I will go to university 3 years in Italy and after I will go abroad so I can work or study better. So here is not so exciting be 18-year-old because you can do oly the things that you do when you was 17-year-old. I'm so sad about this, but I will travel so Italy is not my problem :D

Food

I'm so  hangry :) expecially after I read this article. Reat it and you will be hangry too :) I love Chinese food :D

It is said that food is the first necessity of people.And we all know that food is diffrent all over the world.So I want to introduce a little about food of my hometown.

I live in north-eastern part of China,food here is quite wild and delicious.Stewing is the main way to cook,but we also use other ways.We enjoy meat and vegetable both,but in ancient time people live here didnt have too much food,so they hunt and ate meat a lot.Nowadays we live a better life.

Many people live in southern part of China think we eat wheaten food a lot so we dont eat rice----which is not true.The truth is,we eat rice,and we have the best rice of China.

On the other hand,there are many Korean ethnic people here,so we eat korean 

food a lot,too.

Im not good at cooking,but I know I will be a wife and a mother in the future,so I have to practise.The first time,I failed(black one),but this time I succeed(yellow one).Its not Chinese food but I like it!

Winter in Sweden

Winter in Sweden.

We have a long winter in Sweden. The snow come in the end of November or in the beginning of December. The snow stay til the end of March.
We get a lot of snow. Some weeks it's snowing every day. We shoveling snow directly when the snow is coming. All the time when it's snowing,,, we are there to shoveling the snow.
You can't forget to dress up warm. If you're not, you're going to be sick.
You can do a lot of sports in the winter. The most of sports in Sweden you do when the winter is here. You can ski or snowboard. It's slalomslopes everywhere in Sweden.
You can go for a walk in the nature. The woods. It's beautiful, but do not for god's sake forget to dress up warm.
In the north Sweden, in Lapland. You can see the nothern lights on the night. You can see reindeers, drive a dogsleed. You can experience the sami culture. It's and old group of people on Sweden, who is an old part of Sweden and Finland.
If you're celebrate Christmas in Sweden you're going to experince something wonderful. A lot of singing, stars, lights. You're going to get a real christmas feeling.

Hey

So as I’m going to be writing on this blog, I just wanna give an intro on who I am and why I wanna write here.

Well, I don’t think names are really important because its not as if you’re sending me your wedding invitation, plus a fictional name is much more interesting. So I’m Pringles.

I’m originally from the awesome country of India, I was born there and lived there for 8-9 years, but since then ive moved a lot to different countries like Malaysia, Singapore and now Indonesia, so I think ive seen a pretty diverse variety of cultures.

I really want to write for this blog because I think the idea of having different people from different places in the world talking about their native countries pressing issues is an amazing way to spread knowledge and awareness. It’d be pretty interesting to read about the daily life of someone halfway round the earth wouldn’t it?

I obviously won’t be writing like a professional or anything its not like I’m a certified author with 20 million dollar contract and a holiday home in the Maldives, but ill be just writing to share my opinions. Hope that’s okay!

My favourite thing about England is how different culture mix together. Our number one dish is curry, which actually originated from India, and the drink we are most known for is Tea (also Indian). London especially has people that come from all over the world, either as tourists or to live permanently. At the moment, a lot of things are changing. We are going through tough times, with a recession leaving lots of people unemployed, and even living in poverty. At the moment employment figures are rising, which is a good sign, but it is not over yet – a lot of people are still without jobs, and struggling to find them. University fees have also risen, and many students either cannot afford to go, or find themselves in debt.

It is not all bad though. We are taking many positive steps, especially in human rights. We are legalising gay marriage, and although many religious leaders oppose this, they have not been able to stop progress. By the time I am old enough to settle down, I will be able to marry whoever I fall in love with.

Italian students should be the future?

Hey guys :) I'm writting this article because here in Italy people says : " students must and will be the future" and after this schools are very bad and the buildings fall down. I read a lot of newspapers' articles about that to gave to you nubers. I don't know if that I will write is the same in your country. Italy is a state of old people that works until they are 67-years-old and they don't want that young people work. It is strange true? When I travel I see a lot of 18-year-old that work and here I see only 40/50-year-old. And why that? Because pepole doesn't trust in the teenagers, they think that we are only irresponsable kids that want only play at videogames or spoil walls with paint. I don't think so, because a lot of 16-year-old have good ideas and they aren't listened to. But why older people think that we are " stupid" ? Well, I think that there are a lot of reasons:
1) maybe because a lot of teenagers are irresponsable so adults make a soup of this
2) maybe because schools teach a lot of informations about subjects but they don't teach life
3) because they want do all themselves
4) maybe because is too expensive for industries or enterprises take a beginner?

Well for the 4th we can't do anything because we are not in the politics area :)
for the 3th is the same we can't steer their brain

and the 2nd is very true!! In Italy only few teachers teach life :) Sorry for the repetition :) I think that they must put in our brain that we live in a world not in a paper box, we are the future and if they don't do the our guide, how we can learn? Maybe because in Italy there aren't money for the schools. Goverment blocked one billion four hundred thousands euro for the schools  because this money serve for other questions. But is right? How we can be the future if we don't have the heating in classrooms? I don't know it, and this year,   politics think that is better give money only to the best schools so the unlucky schools will close, but there isn't a plan of choise for that, so it is place in the case.
And well for the 1st is true this too.. because adults don't divide teenagers from teenagers, they make a sum of them and don't think that someone can have something  to say.

Well hi everyone. I'm Noka(that isn't my real name, but I'm not a fan of my real name, so call me Noka). I'm a 16 year old high school student and a girl by the way. I'm very nice and I guess unique in my own way when it comes to my writing style. I have a big imagination. I think that's why I write my own stories. But I'm also a big dreamer too. Rubbish

I think that at  first  i talk about a problem that interested Italy and other poor areas in the world. This morning at school my Science teacher spoke about a very big problem of Italy, that scares me. He saw a tv programme that deals with : where italian rubbish disapear? And he decided to talk about this with us. the trash that disappears is  not all trash, only that is recyclable.  In fact our recycling industries are going to close because they don't have enough rubbish to be rerused.   We pay to dispose of rubbish and we don't finish of  it in Italy but poor countries buy this trash to take it in their country to dispose of it there. But all know how this litter must be disposed? I think not because I didn't know too. I realised that trash must be separeted in different kind of litter. For example plastic, there are: normal plastic like battle of water, plastic of drug, plastif of industries, plastic of hospital ( my teacher said... think that you can have a pen that is make with plastic of the bottle that contained human excrement), plastic of farm. This type of plastic contains different substances that come in  into contac with our body. A lot of toys  for children are made with this recycled plastic, and a lot of them contain carcinogens. But is not the notice that will most scare you... People that matter this rubbish live with this, and they work to dispose of it 12h of day and they have a wage of only 3.5 Euros. They are very poor but not only because they don't have money but they are poor of lives, they don't know ,or they pretend , that they have the certain death, because they breathe a lot of dangerous substances. And to continue they wash and  merge this plastic, but the water that they use for this goes in to  theyr rivers that irrigate their rise crops and after the products are sold all over the world. So you can eat rice that contain polluted substances. Last but not last, a lot of people import parts of pc or other technologies  and they broke this with their hands without any protections. Child are black hands but they are not dirty. All this shouldn't be allowed bu authorities!

Hi! Esperia

I'm going to do a little description about this blog and why I have been opening this.

I'm Esperia, it's not my really name, but I love this one, it is a constellation. Anyway I'm 16 years old and I'm an italian girl. I have been opening this blog because my english is not very good, because here in italy schools don't teach english very well  since kindegarden so when kids  be teenagers, they will write a blog to improve their english. So I'm studying at the liceo scientifico, like hight school to learn science. In this blog I'm not the only one that will write, but I have searched  teenagers from all over the world and I have been finding 3 guys that will write in this blog about their culture, they are: a chinese girl that will describe herself, a indian boy, a portuguese boy and me :) Other people will write but few articles. So you ,that you are reading, can discover new cultures and fall in love or become curious about them. I have had this idea because I love the world and one day I will travel around it and find new cultures, one day I will live in America, is so nice there. I love write and I hope that you like what I'm writting and what I will write, because  the best thing that I can do is interest to you about I write.
